After experiencing the warm hospitality of Holiday Inn in several countries, we expect nothing but the best with Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Mai Khao Beach. We only stayed overnight as this is one of those spur-of-the-moment things when we want to just get away for a night and relax. Located on the shoreline of the Andaman Sea, let us show you how we felt right at home in this paradise called Holiday Inn Resort.

Entrance
Reception
Depending on the traffic, it took us 30 minutes to reach the resort from Phuket International Airport. Don’t look for a door! Their reception is an open area where you can check in or check out right there. Upon arrival, they gave us a welcome drink and a travel book for Charles. They also have a Gift Shop on the left side of the Reception.
The Room and the Balcony
Since this was a last-minute booking, they only have the Deluxe room available. No complaints! The room is spacious with a terrace overlooking the pool and tropical garden.
The room features a king bed, workspace, mini-fridge, flat-screen TV with satellite channels and DVD player, bathroom with separate toilet and walk-in rain-shower, and spacious balcony with daybed. Amenities include free high-speed wifi (!!!), alarm clock with iPod docking station, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, safety deposit box, direct dial telephone with local and international access, and international power sockets.
Aside from the Deluxe room, they also have Pool Access rooms and Junior Suites for extra privacy and romance, Family Suites and Kid’s Suites for families, and Premium Suites with ocean views.

Restaurants & Bars
Holiday Inn Resort offers a dining experience in different stunning venues such as a dining room, beach-side, and the garden! We only had a chance to eat at JS Cafe & Restaurant. You can eat either inside the dining room or outside in a booth by the garden pool. They have breakfast and dinner buffet and a la carte lunch, serving Thai and International cuisine, desserts, and local tropical fruits. Children age 12 years and under eat for free when accompanied by an adult.
They have great choices for breakfast, but not so much for dinner. That’s why usually tourists go downtown to have their lunch or dinner.
Other restaurants and bars available:
Pesto Restaurant is a casual seaside dining that offers Italian cuisine and wines to match.
Resort Centre Deli is your grab-and-go restaurant that serves pre-made sandwiches, ice cream, snacks, and drinks.
Pool Bar offers mocktails, cocktails, beers, wine, and an all-day menu of snacks and light meals.
Hotel Grounds
Behind me is the Reception. To my right is the JS Restaurant.
Tea Tree Spa
While we prefer the massage in Shanghai, we will never miss the Thai massage. You need to book as early as you can if you want a massage as it gets fully booked easily. Also, arrive 5 minutes earlier than your appointed time because you need to fill out a form. When you are done, they will escort you to a room. The room has 2 beds and a shower. It has a cozy and relaxed ambiance with background music. I had a Balinese Massage that concentrated more on my back and legs. The masseuse was really good.
Other massages that they offer are Traditional Thai Massage, Aromatherapy, Balinese Massage, Lomi Lomi Massage, Sports Massage, Pregnancy Massage, and many more. They also have facial treatments, body scrubs, body wraps, manicure, and pedicure. There are also massage designed for kids and teens.
Resort Activities
There is never a dull moment at the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Mai Khao Beach. They prepare a daily program of activities and workshops for the whole family like cooking classes, cake decorating, Thai language classes, towel folding classes, popcorn movie nights and so much more. This is posted in front of JS Cafe & Restaurant.
Their Kids’ Club kept the young ones entertained with an indoor ball pit, games and movies, and an outdoor playground.
Beach Activities
They have scheduled group or family activities including beach games, sunrise yoga sessions, and many more. They also have a swimming pool with a swim-up bar and shaded sun loungers, and Kid’s pool for toddlers and kids!
Phuket Excursions
Phuket is a great destination for everybody, whether you are solo, couple, or family. They have tours for all activity levels of all ages, like elephant safari, ATV jungle safari, island-hopping, long-tail boat tour around Phang Nga Bay, fishing at Racha Islands, canoeing, and whitewater rafting trip. They also have cultural shows at Fantasea.
Overall Experience
For an overnight stay, we had a fantastic time. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit Phuket. They offer a lot of activities that we want to experience some of them, if not all. We don’t mind if it takes 30-45 minutes from the main attractions of Phuket. The resort offers shuttle service to other beaches, and transportation is usually included in tour packages. It is one of those things where you can’t have the cake and also eat it. You have to choose if you want to stay in a hotel or resort near the airport or downtown. We prefer a family-friendly hotel and near the airport, and that is the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Mai Khao Beach.

I love your adventures! I love your son’s photo reading the sign that says Kids Stay & Eat For Free. LOL, cracked me up big time. He is so adorable! Thanks for sharing your adventures, please keep them coming.
Thanks, Sheena. Appreciate the kind words.
Hard to imagine anyone not having a great time here! Looks like the perfect vacation destination. I especially liked the life-sized cheese board.

It’s an amazing resort – perfect for families and less crowded.
This doesn’t look too exciting but one thing I know is that that cute young man is thrilled. I am happy you are living your best life travelling.
Thank you.
These photos are amazing, nice place to visit.
Thanks, Shantanu.
Your son is so cute. And loved all the pictures..I really like the lobby/reception area with grey couches
Thanks, Vaishali. The reception has a welcoming ambiance.
Thailand is def on our bucket list! I love that you brought the little one too!
It’s a must-visit place!!!
So beautiful, hope to visit one day and stay there. The oversized chess set was awesome!! I think my husband and my son would get stuck there!!
Thailand is an awesome place.
Wow! Beautiful. I love finding honest hotel reviews because just going by online reviews it is so hard to know if the hotel and grounds are what they say they are. I’ve had several bad experiences so I love finding bloggers who have down to earth travel experiences!
Thanks, Miranda. I agree with you. What’s more, we paid for our own stay so we were not compensated or anything. This is our actual experience.
Looks like a fun resort! But is that Phuket beach in the picture? Never seen it this empty. Haha
One reason why I didn’t like Patong beach. It’s very crowded and touristy. It’s Mai Khao Beach. It’s near the airport.
Wow. Your son did look like he enjoyed his time. 🙂 Would surely love to stay there someday. 🙂
Thanks, Neil.
My family has done a little staycation, at a resort near us. It was so much fun! If I’m ever in that area, I’ll definitely be checking this resort out.
Thanks, Courtney. This resort is near Mai Khao Beach. It is less crowded.
This is a region we have yet to explore but is on the list. Looks like a beautiful property with everything you need. Pinned it to my travel planning board for later. And your son is darling!
Thanks. This beach is less crowded than Patong beach, so it’s worth checking out.
This looks like a fab resort, one for the bucket list!!!
Thanks, Katherine.
